Staterooms
See our 360-degree photos of the large balcony cabins on the Epic. Because of the ship layout and strange angles of the exterior, you will end up (usually) with a balcony that may be 50% larger but not as enjoyable. For one, you end up looking into the neighbor’s balcony/cabin when stepping out to the railing. So the reality is there is no benefit to the larger balcony staterooms on the Epic.

Ironically, it’s also the ship I’ve cruised on the most. Primarily because the ship has been in locations around the world at the same time I have and always seems to be going somewhere I want or need to be. So when I’ve wanted a quick getaway, the EPIC always seems to be available and it’s usually quite affordable for a last-minute vacation. (I’ve also used the Epic for Transatlantic crossings to get back to America when traveling overseas). A Sail Away Inside stateroom guarantees an Inside stateroom or better!
Spa & Fitness
It is also one of the best destinations for winter sun in Europe. We strolled through the playground of the rich and famous, Cannes then onto a short train ride to visit one of our favorite cities in Europe, Monte Carlo. This city is incredibly scenic and easy to get around, with one city bus circling the entire center core. Visit the Pulse fitness center with great workout equipment including treadmills, ellipticals, and free weights or even yoga, pilates and spinning. We walked through and couldn’t believe how many people were in the fitness center…….love the dedication.

From Broadway-style shows to live music performances, there is never a dull moment on this ship. And if you’re feeling lucky, head to the casino for some gaming excitement. With a wide range of activities to choose from, you’ll be spoiled for choice during your time on the Norwegian Epic. The Norwegian Epic is an extraordinary ship that spans over 1,000 feet in length and can accommodate over 4,000 guests. With 20 decks and a range of amenities, it’s no wonder that this ship is often referred to as a floating city.
Norwegian's Mediterranean cruises transport you from the ruins of ancient empires in Rome to trendy shops and restaurants in Santorini. With only one day at sea, you will have plenty of time on port to immerse yourself in Mediterranean style living. As with a visit to any city, Epic's passengers need to plan ahead to make the most of their time onboard. Dinners and shows should be booked ahead of sailing or you may find yourself on the outside looking in.
The city is renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, and delicious cuisine. Take advantage of the shore excursions offered by the ship, which provide the opportunity to explore Naples and its surrounding areas. Visit the famous ruins of Pompeii or take a trip to the beautiful island of Capri. Alternatively, explore the city on your own and discover its many charms.
It’s a great layout, as my husband and I didn’t have to battle it out in the bathroom for space. We think the Norwegian Epic is a great option for first time cruisers. The sheer size of the cruise ship makes it feel like a large hotel and a bit less of a typical cruise ship. So for people who want to try a cruise, it might be one of the best options. There are a few areas of the ship where service could improve and is inconsistent with what you’d expect with NCL. Mainly this was found among some of the bartenders throughout the ship who looked like they were just overworked and tired.
In November 2020, The Haven on Norwegian Epic underwent extensive renovations. From reimagined Suites to redesigned experiences including The Haven Restaurant and The Haven Courtyard Pool & Sundeck, you can soak in true luxury at sea. We were looking forward to a steak dinner at the popular Cagney’s Steak House. This restaurant has a selection of premium choice cuts of Angus beef perfectly prepared and we also wanted to try their famous Parmesan truffle fries. This was definitely one of our favorite restaurants on the ship. My husband and I always heard stories of friends who have been on other cruises and they had set times for dinner every night in the same restaurant.
